Elaquent’s latest project “Parallel” is now officially available. If you’re a fan – dig in. If you’re not familiar – definitely take a moment to get to know the kid.
Elaquent – Parallel EP (2012)
Urbnet Records
“Normally I have a really long, detailed, philosophical explanation as to the
meaning of my album and what I was trying to do. And I certainly do, but this
time, I will try not to overcomplicate things.
Parallel lines refer to two lines that never intersect or touch…which is how
i feel about this music shit lately. I’m certainly not the only musician doing the kind
of music that I do, but I find a lot of pressure in all sorts of places to follow
the same type of formula as other artists, many of which I’m fans of. However, I would
rather stay in my own lane…i believe that the destination is ultimately the same.
Kind of one of those ideas that is applicable in all fascades of life, ultimately, the
purpose is to what makes sense and suits you, rather than altering yourself to fit
in with everybody else, at the end of the day, we are all striving and moving in the
same direction.
In terms of the music, I wanted to challenge myself more. very little sampling, spent
a lot of time trying to work on the actual composition of everything so that my music feel
more like songs, than just beats. I suppose it will ultimately be up to you to decide
whether it worked, or if you like it or not. I just wanted to step a bit outside of my
comfort zone and approach the body of music from a different standpoint, being at a different
point in my life. Nevertheless, enjoy. Many thanks for all of the support.”

J Shiltz brings together an all star cast for “Keep Pushing On” the third single from his upcoming album “Still Standing”, getting an assist from none other than North Carolina’s own Rapper Big Pooh (formerly of Little Brother) and Toronto R&B legend Ray Robinson while Monolith representative Charisma holds down the production on this soulful cut. “Still Standing” coming soon…
In my expert opinion all these verses need to be longer. Thanks. Shouts to the crew.
Served up to you char-broiled, strait off an open flame, the “F-DUB” collective brings you its latest instalment of pure, unadulterated artistry: The Grille. Local 24 hour diner The Grille has played second home to The Freedom Writers for the past 2 years whether the occasion be an all-night studio session, video shoot, a heated hip hop debate or just straight politicking. Filmed in one take Theo3, Tona, Adam Bomb, Frankie Payne and Progress terrorize the raw and gritty backdrop provided by in house producer/engineer/director Big Sproxx with the perfect blend of lyricism and punchlines that is sure to have listeners bopping their heads and twisting their grilles. Special shout out to our favourite waitress, Jackie aka Ja-kay… Woosh!
You know that dope-ass joint she released last week, “Crazy Love”, which was stream only…? Well here’s the DL version. Thank you Ms. Mill.
TORONTO VOCALIST, ANDREENA RELEASES TEASER IN PREPARATION OF HER MUCH ANTICIPATED MIXTAPE “NAKED”
Toronto, ON (Oct. 29, 2012) — Following the success of her infamous mixtape “Ready To Fly,” Andreena (formerly known as Andreena Mill) is gearing up for a very busy 2013 with a new mixtape, new sound & a brand new attitude. The upcoming mixtape entitled “Naked” has an expected release for the top of 2013. The first single titled “Boss Chick” is currently in heavy rotation on radio. Andreena has allowed her fans to hear an exclusive teaser from the mixtape titled “Crazy Love.”
You already know that we’re up on all things Andreena but I just realized that we never got up her 2 recent cameos with DMX. Don’t have the official word (maybe I should just ask her, lol) but I’m assuming that after X did his “Last Hope” dub he just had to get Dreena on his tape Undisputed. Can you blame him? The connection resulted in two joints, “Cold World” and “No Love” both produced by the homie Snaz and Dame Grease.
And speaking of Snaz, Dame and X…There’s a Machine Gun Kelly joint called “D3mons” feat. DMX that Snaz produced with Dame Grease but the label messed up and didn’t give him the production credit. Bah. Peep the joint under the hood.
