A departure from the gritty club bangers for which he’s known, Harvey Stripes’ latest single is the infectious “Ghost”. Over a dance beat by Beat Merchant and a sing-along hook from Juno-award winning singer-songwriter Dru, Harvey tells of the ghost of a girlfriend past who continues to haunt him. The Cazhhmere-directed visual for “Ghost” was shot in rural Ontario with Brittany Dailey (who most recently appeared in Nas’ “Cherry Wine” video) as Harvey’s leading lady. As the rapper drives down a deserted road, he can’t shake the feeling of his old flame — spotting her in the rearview mirror, seeing her riding besides him and even slamming on his brakes as she crosses his path. “Ghost” is the second single from Harvey’s upcoming project, “A Penny and a Nightmare.” dropping early 2013.

Adversaree & Phat Tony bring to you Tongues Uv Machetes 2: Enter Simon Barz Sinister the EP. Once, again, Adversaree is back on the series of the TUM, but this time he brought beat smith/producer Phat Tony (CampX, F.A.T. Thursday) as the EP’s chief/only producer. The theme, this time around, is gathered around Simon Bar Sinister of the Underdog cartoon series from the 1960s. TUM2 promises dagger-style bars and villainous verses that lay over the street-thumping, hip-hop boom-bap of Phat Tony’s production. The Simon persona was taken by Adversaree as the villain in TUM2, this time around. Sit back and enjoy an EP that is for the heads, as well as the lyrical listeners. Once, again, we cannot THANK YOU enough for your proven and constant support of what we’re doing, as hiphop citizens. The appreciation is limitless!! Look out for more from Adversaree!!! Bless.
Hit the jump for a behind-the-scenes look at Ottawa producer JGramm (who’s been getting a lot of high profile work south of the border) making the beat.

Toronto MC Humble The Poet has teamed up with Los Angeles based Producer KinG! to create Polished Bullsh*t, the first off an untitled project slated for release early 2013. Though Humble The Poet has most recently been work with international drum & bass, and electronic acts. from London, Berlin & New Delhi, this new collaborative effort shows that his evolving sound still complements ‘back-to-basic’ Hip Hop Production.

A NEW PORTAL FOR CANADIAN R&B RNBCanada.com website launch set for January 1, 2013
TORONTO – Never before have Canadian R&B and soul artists garnered so much collective international attention. Whether it be multiple Grammy award-winning singer Melanie Fiona or Polaris Music Prize short-lister The Weeknd, Canada has no shortage of success stories when it comes to the softer side of the urban music sphere. Drake is considered by many to be as much of a singer as he is a rapper, and pop sensation Justin Bieber’s catalogue is becoming increasingly filled with down tempo R&B songs and heart wrenching ballads.
There is also a large cast of Canadian talent making waves nationally, only a single or 2 away from grasping the coveted international attention that their aforementioned peers have shown to be possible.
From Keshia Chanté to Shi Wisdom, JRDN to Yuri Koller, the scene is ripe with emerging talent and budding stars. And while the infrastructure in place to help the scene succeed has developed quite a bit in recent years, artists will be the first to tell you that more support is needed.
Enter RNBCanada.com. With a soft launch set for January 1, 2013, RNBCanada.com will serve as a new portal to the Canadian R&B scene, giving artists from across the country a chance to be heard and fans a reliable source for their R&B/Urban needs. The site will cater to various styles including traditional Rhythm and Blues, Contemporary R&B, Soul/Neo Soul, Adult Contemporary, Spoken Word, Urban Pop and more.
“The countdown to our launch is now live at RNBCanada.com along with preliminary submission details. We’re urging artists across Canada to submit their material and get an early start at developing a relationship with us,” states Enoch Johnson, the site’s newly appointed Editor-In-Chief.
Along with music submissions, RNBCanada.com has also opened its doors to journalists and R&B enthusiasts looking to get involved. Be sure to e-mail info@rnbcanada.com for more information.
