IvanUnknown releases his debut full length project with production from the likes of MURR, Katalyst, and an  appearance from Saukrates.

TORONTO –  Inspired by the experimental production styles of artists like Flying Lotus, Hudson Mohawke and Knxwledge, Ivanunknown collected a handful of Canadian electronic music producers to create the backdrop on his debut full length album, Fickle, out February 11th on DNH Records. Middlefield, Matthew Maaskant, Murr and his brother Phen Ray explore dark dub, minimal techno, throwback R&B and soul rhythms beneath Ivanunknown’s silky vocals.

“The songs aren’t about sex and money,” says Ivanunknown, ”this album is an expression of love: love for music, love for women, love for self.”

The album features Canadian rapper Saukrates on the murky, reggae-inspired single “Make It By,” while “So Close So Far” has attracted fans like Osunlade for its slow building, futuristic sound. R2 Records label head Kyri describes the song: “Evolved soul is the simplest way to put it. Ivanunknown has all the heritage of what went before, with a fresh twist.”

Ivanunknown’s “Solitude” is a love song complete with old school flow and gritty hip-hop rhythms, and “Perfect Alibi,” is a tense, emotional ride, with DJ Catalist’s remix rounding out the album with pop and R&B flavours.

Ivanunknown recently released house singles with Nick Holder (listen to “Ivan’s Burden”) and Kansas-based producer Leonard Dstroy (listen to “Ivan’s Burden Pt. 1”).
