NEW VIDEO: The Weeknd “King Of The Fall” (Directed by Glenn Michael)

Directed by Glenn Michael.

Visuals for The Weeknd’s latest song/single/tour.

After taking a proper look at this video, man, so much that’s super-problematic with the way it constructs women. They mostly look like completely broken, empty vessels, devoid of any agency…… and within the context of the song, its lyrics, and the way most of the men are positioned throughout the visual, it just makes for a dark, extremely misogynistic, sexist depiction of women. Initially I was just gna take it down, but then I was like, what good would that do (??), so hopefully these quick thoughts posted below the video will give viewers seeing this via this blog a reason to think a bit more critically about songs/visuals like this when consuming.
