Some homies from the 6ix pop up in No Malice’s new documentary and compilation album which is available on iTunes now.

“Movin’ Weight” takes listeners on a journey through lives of those who have first-hand experience with street life. The album features sounds and rhythms faithful to the origins of the hip-hop genre, while also infusing soulful harmonies and melodies that embody the struggles of the inner city. Using touches of jazz and R&B, each song tells part of a larger story — a story that begins with the idea of movin’ weight, but ends with deeper spiritual truths about the condition of the soul. It’s not just an album, it’s an experience in storytelling.

Full-length release from Dijah SB. Take it in but also peep the blog post for more insight into the mind state and events that led to the creation of the album. I think it’s really commendable for someone to be able to share such personal information publicly (let alone musically). Here’s a snippet from the post:
My life story is not nearly as important as what I am trying to preach here. I just figured a little background would help you understand. I want to break barriers when it comes to depression specifically. I wrote this mixtape under that intention. I want people to be able to openly tell people they are depressed. That they are sad. They don’t know why, but they are. They can’t get out of bed. Everything sucks. They want to die. I want that to be open dialogue between people who are dealing with depression. It’s scary. And it’s personal I know.
