rez | Music | Friday, July 20th, 2012

Congrats to all our Jamaicans celebrating 50 years of independence this year! There’s actually lots going on in the city based around the milestone. Just visit Jamaica50.ca for all the info! Pretty amazing what Jamaicans have been able to do in just 50 years. Coming from such a small island they literally have one of the strongest and most influential cultures in the world. Really remarkable. And shouts to Kreesha for busting out a likkle Reggae vibe on this too, lol.

Canada’s JUMP FOR JAMAICA ALL STARS ANTHEM — featuring BEENIE MAN, KARDINAL OFFISHALL, ETANA, CHERINE ANDERSON, MARCIA GRIFFITHS, T.O.K, KREESHA TURNER, COURTNEY JOHN, STEELE, AMMOYE, JAY DOUGLAS, MR. LEXX

Jump For Jamaica is ‘Changing Lives for THE BETTER’. Part of the proceeds from downloads benefit RISE (Reaching Individuals through Skills and Education) Life Management Services – a non-governmental organization, established in Jamaica in 1989 as the island’s first outpatient treatment center for addictive disorders. Over the years, RISE has adjusted its direction and focus to meet the current needs of the young at-risk population in Jamaica, particularly those living in inner-city communities. THE RISE MISSION: To provide educational, vocational and health-related services for at-risk populations, including those suffering from addictive disorders, in order to facilitate healthy, fulfilling and productive lifestyle choices.
