I was in Malibu, poolside at Josh Groban’s, when he asked me if I’ve ever considered making a Christmas album. “I haven’t,” I told him. He looked at me and said, “you should! You can make a lot of fucking cheese off that shit, Christoff!”

Josh ignited a spark inside me. I’ve spent the last 6 years recording emotional, autobiographical rap songs. I’ve never really stepped out of that zone. Christmas is something I’ve always celebrated at least once a year, and Christ is part of my surname. It made sense. As I rubbed Groban’s chest with tanning oil, I told him, “I think I’m interested. It has to be live. And will only work if a certain someone produces it.” Josh sat up and said, “let me make a call.”

Before I knew it, I was at a steakhouse with legendary record producer, David Foster. “Mad fucking cheese, Christoff. Mad cheese,” Foster whispered. Now it really made sense. As I rubbed David’s chest with tanning oil, I told him, “I’m interested. It has to be live. And will only work if you produce it.” Dave sat up and said, “let me make a call.”

Before I knew it, I was on stage in a sold out Newmarket Cultural Arts Centre, in Newmarket, Ontario, performing Christmas classics, backed by my wishlist of favourite musicians. It was a dream come true. A dream that is going to make me very, very rich.

Toss your All-4-One and Our Lady Peace Christmas albums in the trash. You have a new soundtrack for the holidays!
