It is hard to believe that Soul Run is Tanika Charles’s debut full-length record. Over the past several years, Charles has become a a staple of the Canadian music festival scene, performing at North by Northeast, Pop Montreal, TD Toronto Jazz Fest as well as our very own CBC Music Festival.

For her First Play Live session, Charles and her band, the Wonderfuls, were dressed to the nines, as any true soul group should be. The set was tight — this is a top-notch band, and Charles is a top-notch singer.
