Demons or jinn appear in practically every culture and religion worldwide. tales of demons date back to the beginning of recorded history and thousands of people worldwide still fear demons and the evil associated with them.
Demons are entities that are said to plague humanity with evil and are active soldiers in the war for the souls of mankind. In Christianity, demons are believed to be one third of the angels that were cast out of heaven along with Lucifer. Unlike their angelic counterparts, most believe that demons despise humanity and exist only to cause suffering and despair.
Shi Wisdom, who is arguably (as in I will argue with you if you disagree) the most impressive voice to come out of Toronto this past year, is releasing her new EP “LVSPK” (Love Speak) and putting on her first ever showcase of its material. Shi’s been steady building her buzz over the past year or so with singles, features, co-writing credits with Drake + her standout performance in this year’s Stylus/Cityonmyback viral cypher, and although she’s done quite a few shows in the city this show is definitely shaping up to be the one. With a live band and a restricted 150 ticket capacity I wouldn’t sleep too long on grabbing tickets which are going for $20 and can be purchased by calling 647-210-7170.
It all goes down Saturday July 28th @Revival (783 College St.).
David Banner’s appearance on Chin Injeti’s Peoples Mixtape is the final advance single before its July 17 release via Wandering Worx. In the track “Peoples 2” produced by Chin, David Banner comes with a style far removed from his earlier works such as “Like A Pimp”, “Play”, and “Get Like Me”. Whether it’s the raw production of Chin’s hard hitting drums and ringing church organ that sounds anything but angelic, or just a musical change for Banner, the Mississippi MC approaches the record with aggression and heavy punchlines from a roaring voice box.
The third visual off Raz Fresco’s self-produced CakeyPocket$ mixtape “Breathe” is now out. The self-directed/edited video is a collaboration effort between Raz and Josh Mankz off an upcoming film group based in the GTA. 17 year old Raz, who has produced for the likes of Mac Miller, Tyga, French Montana, Big Sean, BoB, and Wale crafts a beat for Breathe that fits perfectly into the underlying theme of CP$ as it is an ode to the tireless workers/dreamchasers who over-exert themselves to achieve their goals. A very powerful speech entitled “The Formula To Success” by Eric Thomas (ET The Hip Hop Preacher) is used at the beginning and end of the song to properly paint the picture. As an outro, Raz couldnt of selected a more fitting set of words to wrap up the tape. Shot in Toronto, the video interpretation of the song see’s Fresco cruising in front of a beautiful Toronto skyline and quickly emerging on top of the city through slowly rising symbolically in an elevator.
