Not my favorite brand of hip-hop exactly but the 2nd MC is growing on me! And not only because he said “city on my back” in the verse, ha! Looks like they’re having fun and loving what they’re doing, and I’m always a fan of that. Saidah Conrad still the truth tho!

Today Ain’t No Love launched their newest music video on YouTube for the single Blinded. The MuchFACT funded video was directed, filmed, and edited by MMVA nominated Luke Hansen Macdonald (235 Films) and has already entered rotation on MuchMusic and will be featured on mtvU next week. Produced by Liam Clarke of Love Thy Brother, Blinded is an energetic electro hip hop track with a contemporary twist. Saidah Conrad’s vocals are chopped up to perfection and effectively pieced back together to create a contagious hook. Rappers 1990 and Beanz deliver tastefully aggressive bars accompanied by a drilling musical backdrop.

 

Since their music video for the HypeMachine topping single Fake Your Dreams hit heavy rotation on MuchMusic and MuchVibe, Ain’t No Love has stayed busy in the studio and on the road. They showcased at Evolve Festival, Quebec City Summer Festival, Montreal’s OUMF with Lunice & Tommy Kruise, and last week returned from a main stage show at Ottawa’s Winterlude (CBC Preview). This month they will be playing official showcases at SXSW for a 3rd year in a row.

Flowchild returns to the thick of things with a new full length featuring a nice lineup of guests and producers.

Toronto emcee Erik Flowchild has come together with The DJBooth to bring listeners his latest digital full-length, Child’s Play. The project packs a total of 12 original jams from the up-and-coming rhymesayer, including reader-approved lead single “Hurdles.” Brandon Dramatic, DJ Grouch, Enuma, Joe Budden and Raz Fresco make guest appearances throughout the set, which features beats by Biird & Lahghost, Chizzy, Daniel Worthy, Dead Horse Beats, Dviousmindz, KemiKal, Matthew Burnett and Stray Beatz, as well as production from Flowchild himself.
