Jimmy B does some heartfelt personal reflection on the women that raised him for his latest single/visuals.
“I wrote ‘One Whiskey’ as a dedication to my grandmother when she passed away. Just me and a bottle of whiskey. It’s a reflection of my past and a beacon of hope for my future. These are my emotions and thoughts after one whiskey.” – Jimmy B

Curious to know what’s poppin’ with P. Reign? Here’s everything you need to know:
When Drake wrapped his “_Would You Like A Tour?” in London last month, the best seat in the house belonged to P. Reign. In “_Pon Tour_” the rapper and OVO affiliate gives us a bird’s-eye view of Drizzy’s massive performances at The O2 Arena including backstage cameos from Rihanna, The Weeknd and will.i.am. “_When Drake hits you to fly out, you know it’s about to be a moment,” says P. Reign (born Raynford Humphrey) of the Planet Mind-helmed visual.
Despite a big name-check on Drake’s recent “_We Made It Freestyle_” (“OVO, Reps Up/and P. Reign is next up/ Watch Gway go crazy”), P has been keeping a relatively low profile domestically. He’s been spending time across the pond, as previous charges for cocaine have rendered him unable to travel and tour in America. “Because I haven’t been able to cross the U.S. border in a decade, I’ve been spending more time in Europe,” he explains. “_I’ve toured and opened for Drake on his last two Europe runs_.”
“_Pon Tour,” produced by one of Drake’s go-to sound engineers and producers Noel, is from P. Reign’s forthcoming “Dear America.” The June 17 mixtape on the Reps Up imprint was recorded over the past year and features French Montana, Waka Flocka Flame and the previously released “_We Them Ni—as_” with A$AP Rocky. “_I think it’s some of the best music I’ve made ‘cause it’s filled with honesty and frustration: recording under duress and uncertainty definitely brings out a lot of different emotions,” P. Reign explains.
In 2011, the upstart was on trial and subsequently acquitted of gun charges. Enduring a high-profile trial in his native Toronto has had its effects. His management shares that press around the trial ostensibly worsened his chances to cross the border–and P is funneling the experience intothe mixtape. “_I remember when I was fighting my gun charges,” he recalls, “_there were nights I would record thinking, ‘I might be in jail tomorrow.’”
Dark days behind him, P is hopeful for the future and all he wants is to cross the border to promote “Dear America” to its namesake. “_I’m excited for people to hear it. I just hope by the time it’s out, I’m able to come stateside and support it._”
