Toronto-based rap artist, Kavale, debuted his first collective release in EP form with the title “Genius” about 2 months back. Today he revisits his self-produced sounds for his latest solo offering, “Every Reason”. The record is laced with intricate beats as he chants flamboyantly across the track.
Living the lifestyle of a growing artist & having someone occupy a special place in you can get complex. The key is balance. That’s just how it goes.
Catching up with the youngin’ Maurice Moore via his Stxries viral video series. Get to know the kid!
In this episode Moore exposes his audience to his contagious personality, which has helped him gain international notoriety as an artist to watch. ‘MM’ is seen travelling the streets of LA with his team, interacting with fans after a show downtown and working at Paramount Studios with T-Town from Germany (Chris Brown/R.Kelly- Drown In It). While at Paramount Studios, Maurice also collaborated with writers Rook Monroe (Natalie La Rose/Jeremih – Somebody), Joelle James (CBE/Interscope) and August Grant (Wale – New Phone). Stxries Vol. ll gave us glimpses of upcoming music, which sounds like a promising end to 2015 for the Canadian talent.

Toronto’s Ian Kamau is a musician, a poet and an artist; “the goal of art, I believe…” he tells us in this episode of Exclaim! TV Sweet 16s, “…is to communicate with other people.”
Kamau certainly practices what he preaches, using hip-hop to connect with others, whether he is learning from his cousin’s musical methods or sending samples to his grandmother in Trinidad. He also collaborates with fellow artists like Shad, k-os and, most recently, Montreal producer/emcee Jai Nitai Lotus. We asked Kamau to share his art with us, too, and he obliged by performing his favourite 16 bars for our cameras.
Always looking forward to any release from the ΒΚΓ$CLB fam. This time it’s Briskinthehouse with his latest offering – which has 8 songs so seems like it’s too long to actually be considered an EP but the tracks are short (total run time under 20min) so I guess it technically is. Either way, I digress.
After the dopeness that was “Soul Runner”, pHoenix, DijahSB and A. Harmony have linked up for a full-length album called Hometown Herverts – the release party of which is tonight. Hip-hop will definitely be in the building!
