In-line with the re-issue of Clairmont’s Quest for Milk and Honey (and I’m guessing something to do with his recent signing to Black Box), the west-end representer re-drops visuals for “A Declaration”.

Teenaged Toronto-based rap phenomenon Clairmont The Second whose Quest for Milk and Honey album was recently voted one of the top 25 Canadian albums of 2016 (#17) by CBC Music has been spreading his unique rap stylings across North America since January 31st as part of the No Warm Up tour with SonReal. As a prelude to the forthcoming release of new music and visuals in 2017 with new label partner Black Box Music (Shad, Classified, SonReal) the re-issued co-directed “A Declaration” video clip by Jorden Lee and Clairmont The Second is one of those cinematic must-see music videos that reads more like a short film than anything, and contains a clever build-up and killer climax (literally). Uber respected on the Toronto music scene as a prolific one man music-and-multi-media army who shoots and edits his own video content, while writing, producing and mixing his own work, this song and video leaves no question as to where the future of Canadian rap creativity and resourcefulness lies. When he raps “me on a mic, that’s a problem” on this buzz track, he really means it. 
   
To get inside the mind of the rapidly rising rapper who recently joined the roster of the Feldman Agency, Canada’s largest entertainment booking agency, Clairmont The Second has also just released a new vlog series that will present his arty, unscripted view of the tour as it winds its way through the United States and Canada. “You cannot box this show in. I mess with so many different styles…from the content, to the way I shoot it, to the technicality of the way I edit the videos,” says the artist who participated in Toronto’s first ever TeamBackPack Cypher last year, and was featured on a strong collaboration with Last Gang producer Harrison (“It’s Okay, I Promise”).”One episode could be completely different from the last episode and have a completely different focus or point to it”:

Toronto’s 20-year old R&B singer Raahiem returns with his third effort from his debut project – FOTU (Fear of the Unknown). With Valentines Day season upon us the airy ballad, entitled Love & War, seemingly serves as an honest yet harsh reality check in a relationship. The sultry record is another self-produced cut with the assist from common collaborators Anthony Bastion and Tay Lewis. His debut EP is set to release later this month.

“Santa Romeo” is a humorous story on the romantic highs and lows of a casanova that highlights many aspects of his artistry with storytelling, humour and unequivocal charm. Produced by Darp Malone, with a DJ @SkratchBastid drum edit and featuring @IvanaSantilliMusic on the horn, this track takes the listener on an adventure laden series of events with action packed, visual lyrics with upbeat, horn filled music. It’s a light hearted commentary on the always prevalent narrative of a lothario finding himself caught in a sticky situation with the chorus highlighting his unmistakably soulful voice, questioning “she loves me, she loves me not”. The whimsical yet relatable nature of “Santa Romeo” will be accompanied with a stunning upcoming animated video, to be released soon. One can’t help but visualize Reign’s words, and this special talent of his is remarkably prevalent with Santa Romeo.
