Shouts to this dude for selling this album for $100 on Bandcamp, lol. Feel you bruh. And I’m not even being sarcastic. How well it’ll work for him, I dunno. But I get it. And yes. It’s confusing how he’s been releasing music but whatever. It’s the Internet age man. It’s the wild wild west out here. On a more serious note, RIP Redway.

NEW ALBUM: Tona – The Ivy League

Bam! Just like that, Tona drops The Ivy League. Taking this one in ASAP. Copp that on iTunes.

TONA – THE IVY LEAGUE
Coming out of Scarborough, veteran rapper Tona marks his return with a new project, and even bigger aspirations. ‘THE IVY LEAGUE’, Tona’s follow-up project to his debut solo ‘CARPE DIEM’ in 2015, serves as a testament to his keen ear for production, bass-heavy vocals tones and silky bars, but also Tona’s ability to create a cohesive sonic experience.

Heralded by the most recent single “Red Eye,” the 17-track album features hard line yet harmonious production courtesy of longtime collaborators Rich Kidd, as well as Grammy-nominated Tone Mason and heavy hitter producer 2oolman of A Tribe Called Red. Etched with many personal tales of self-accomplishment, relationships, social views, political and morally ethical content mixed in with that hometown pride, ‘THE IVY LEAGUE’ shows a very introspective side of the Toronto vet that has yet to shine.

“The Ivy League persona was applied as a metaphor to demonstrate exactly how prestigious my career has been up until this point. The same way an Ivy League school would be classified as the highest level of academics pursuit, this is definitely a very high level of my artistry,” Tona adds.

In classic hip-hop bar-stacking form, ‘THE IVY LEAGUE’ shows growth in content and lyrical maturity that seizes the musical landscape yesterday, today and tomorrow. It’s a rare window into the complex artist and person that is Tona while demonstrating some unlimited range.

NEW ALBUM: Moka Only – California Sessions Vol. 3 (2003)

That dude Moka Only digs deep in the vaults to drop some unreleased music from back in 2003. Check out the Bandcamp page for the full track-by-track breakdown.

P.s. Dude’s putting out an album every month this year. Madness.

California sessions vol 3.

Yes yes, back once again for the hundredth time. Yup, u heard me. 100. This project is one from the vaults of 2003 and is the final instalment of the California sessions series, which I came up with back then while floating back and forth between Los Angeles and Vancouver. Ima go track by track on this one for y’all so u get a better idea of the overall itness and allness. Give it a minute, let it sink in ya.

Critically acclaimed underground hip hop artist Moka Only is back at it with his eighth installment of his twelve albums for 2016 series. California Sessions Vol 3, originally recorded in 2003 on an ADAT machine, narrates a time in Moka’s life when he found himself“…floating back and forth between Los Angeles and Vancouver”. Recently remastered from a heavily damaged and once seemingly unusable cassette, this thirteen track record is set for release by URBNET on Friday August 26th. Written, recorded, and produced by Moka Only himself, California Sessions Vol 3 is yet another example of Moka’s boundless talent. He has released countless successful records since the late 90’s working with legends such as; MF Doom, J Dilla, and Swollen Members. Moka’s past collaborative efforts have earned him three Juno’s, Seven MuchMusic Video Awards, and Seven Platinum plaques.

NEW MUSIC: Staasia Daniels “Hidden Gems” (EP)

Ty Harper | Album,Audio,Music | Wednesday, August 10th, 2016

Debut EP from Ms. Daniels!

Toronto songstress Staasia Daniels has just released her debut EP project “Hidden Gems”! Premiering earlier today on Complex Music Canada, the project is now available on all streaming services. Much of the 11 song project is produced by Xpress aka DJ XP; with producers: 5PieCE, Artclass, PDUB, Giangelo Power and others assisting with well rounded production that compliments Staasia’s vocals.

Staasia recalls the process of putting the project together and how far she’s come a long as an artist
“My heart is literally racing, and my eyes are filling up with water as I’m writing this. I don’t even know where to begin. I’m just going to say that this wasn’t easy. I’ve been releasing material since 2011, so the goal was always to put together my masterpiece, but so many things went “wrong” along the way, it almost felt like it would never happen. I’ve watched and supported almost everyone I know (of) release a body of work, 2 or 3 even, lol, and as much as there has been a few times where I could have just released one, my heart, and my mind wouldn’t let me. From learning how to successfully record myself, mix and all that jazz, I can truly say that growing through this has been amazing. I started out doing covers on YouTube, editing my own cheesy videos, to then doing original music and growing from there! Yes, I’ve felt defeated, discouraged, friends dropped out of the SD Academy, and I’ve felt I wasn’t good enough etc, but if it all happened for this moment right here, AMEN! I couldn’t be happier with everything from my amazing team, my writing, my arrangements, the mixes, transitions, artwork, and not being afraid to be myself anymore!

NEW MUSIC: Sese “The Buu Saga” (EP)

Latest project from Sese on some anime-inspired madness.
