That moment when a talented come-up artist that’s been passionately working on their sound has a break through that elevates them to another salient milestone on that journey…. kinda like when something you’ve been looking at for a minute, and thought was already in focus, suddenly got even sharper… shouts to Jahmal and KJ on the production…

lyrics
Underground
Below the gridlock
Underwater
Swimming with thin sharks
Ribcage exposed silhouettes through black t’s
Cocaine-crack chic
Adam’s apple’d drag queens
Dancing
Dancing with swan grace
Baryshnikov pirouettes on stage before a standing applause
Caucasians with harsh taste
Who frame canned soup, but will never swallow canned food
The elite sparkle
The scum rot
Dreaming of London palaces from slum blocks
Slumdogs barking up the wrong bark
While the sophisticates die like rock stars
Drowning in bathtubs
Splish splashing in bubblebath suds
A thirty-eight year old playwright with stage fright
A cry-baby ‘cuz he wasn’t raised right
Bitch!
.
I’m from the town where they build you up to break you down
.
Tupac was a ballerina
A fan of theatre
With tatted features
A ballad screamer
A shattered dreamer
Who wanted every leaf of lettuce in his salad greener
Now we follow fabricated photocopy
Emotionally damaged avocado rolls with no wasabi
Singing Aubrey melodies every fourth bar
Opening slot
Instagram photo op
Painted nails
Open toed sandals
Spilling soda out the Coca-Cola can hole
Cornball
Corn starch
Corncob
A mashed potato who was born soft
Not the outer space, turbine’d type of OutKast
The Urban Outfitter type of outcast
White boy guitarist by the campfire
Strumming Bob Marley covers till his hands tire

Latest from the BBNG trio.
Budding Toronto trio BADBADNOTGOOD are releasing the first official single “Can’t Leave The Night” from their forthcoming debut album III on Innovative Leisure due out May 6th. After teasing the label signing last month with the release of their first new song in almost a year “CS60” on their Soundcloud page, the band is back in full swing and gearing up for a big year, setting things off with this stirring first single premiered by The FADER.
Known for their critically-acclaimed self-released projects and their one of a kind live show, this release marks a debut for BBNG on Innovative Leisure, but III is also the natural progression of BBNG and BBNG II. After staying quiet musically for close to a year, it’s no surprise that this new project defies the expectations that the band has set for itself. “This album is the sum of all the experiences and growth we’ve had over the past couple of years, touring everywhere, playing with all kinds of brilliant people, learning from everyting that’s happened to us, and honing in on this knowledge to make something truly special” explains drummer Alex Sowinski.
Since building their homemade studio in Toronto last year, the band has taken a completely analog approach to all the songwriting, recording, and even mixing of this album, all the way to chosing reel-to-reel audio tape recording over the standard Pro Tools. This process gives way to a very rich record, where the bulk of the songwriting happens up front with Alex’s timing on drums, Chester’s touch on bass, Matthew’s mastery with synths and an extra helping hand from friends for addtitional horns and strings.
