YuriCall

Yuri flips the bassline for “Tyrone” and speaks some truth on “Who You Gonna Call”. Nice. Shouts to all artists using their talent / reach to speak on issues that matter.

Recorded, Produced, Mixed, & Mastered by Yuri Koller
Additional Vocals by Erik Flowchild

– Lyrics –
Everyday I see em goin thru the same thing
Pointing fingers but who’s gonna take the blame
It’s not black or white, it seems like there’s more than 50 shades of grey
Tryna make it through the night, aren’t the red and blue supposed to save the day? Well ok

Tell me who you gon’ call now?
Tell me who you gon’ call now? Who you gon’ call now?
(X4)

At the end of the day? Either way they say it’s our fault
But we ain’t ever take it that far, or break that law
We don’t need them at all
But if they ain’t the ones we gon’ call

Tell me who you gon’ call now?
Tell me who you gon’ call now? Who you gon’ call now?
(X4)

NEW MUSIC: k-Os “Spaceship”

Ty Harper | Audio,Music | Tuesday, July 28th, 2015

“Toronto legend k-os has been one of the most prominent voices in Canadian hip-hop for over a decade, and an advocacy for intelligent and critical discourse is a defining theme in his music and lyrics.”Complex

“`Spaceship, ’ an uplifting, self-affirming track that has K-OS recalling a great many of the reasons that lead him to hip-hop in the first place.”Okayplayer

Toronto legend k-os’ insightful approach to music making has proven he is an artist with boundless limits, and certainly not one that appeases to fluctuating mainstream trends, in which his 2005 Grammy Nomination can attest. It’s been 10 years since k-os’ transformative sophomore release, Joyful Rebellion, and the artist has spent the past decade trying to explore the movement of hip-hop into infinite new possibilities. Now, k-os is proud to reveal his new albumCan’t Fly Without Gravity out on August 28 via Dine Alone Records. In anticipation for the full release, we are now getting a preview with single“Spaceship” which premiered on Okayplayer.

“Spaceship” is a self-affirming track with spirited choruses and confessional verses that offer a glimpse of what youth was like for the hip-hop visionary and what lead him to music in the first place. The MC makes a firm pledge to truth and ideals and accepts the isolation that may come with it.

Can’t Fly Without Gravity captures all of the different sides that make up k-os’ musical DNA. It’s an affirmation that “the forces which pull you down are simply put there to inspire you to rise above them’ and promises to be a more stripped-down, holistic effort than its highly conceptual predecessor, Black on Blonde. However, the rock vs. rap dialectic at that album’s core still guides k-os on a more philosophical level. It’s not just a question of reconciling disparate musical styles, but of different workflow strategies. To be k-os in 2015 is to find the happy medium between hip-hop’s penchant for rapid-fire releases and perpetual stylistic mutation with a more measured approach and timeless aspirations of rock n roll artists—all while engineering his music for a post-EDM pop landscape that has not only changed listeners’ tastes, but their very physiology. Welcome to the great beyond.

Upcoming Tour Dates:

August 8 – Squamish, BC – Squamish Valley Music Festival 2015
September 5 – Edmonton, AB – Sonic Boom Festival (Harbourfront Centre)
September 6 – Calgary, AB – X Fest
more tour dates to be announced soon

NEW MUSIC: Drake “Charged Up” (Bozack Re-Edit) (Prod. Maneesh x Frank Dukes x Noah “40” Shebib)

Ty Harper | Audio,Music | Sunday, July 26th, 2015

If you’re from this city you know (or should know) these attempts to slight OVO’s pen game are laughable… at least imho.

That said there are very real, critical discussions we can have about ghost writing and the legitimacy of collaborative writing relationships in rap-writing, and the valid expectations a client (whether it be another artist, producer or entity) should have when hiring an artist to give them a rap verse (these are the times I miss OTA Live! smh).

…. anyways, we’ve all heard “Charged Up” by now but here’s a nice refix produced by mans like Bozack, still.
