Mannnn…..been stupid busy the past couple weeks. Tryna catch up this weekend on the 1116 (ugh) unread emails in the Cityonmyback inbox. Let’s start with that dude Elcee. New joint called “P.O.M.E.”
Produced by LOWERCASE n ( @lowercasen )
Basically, I’m trying to let y’all know a little back story of what it looked like for me growing up, and what I was supposed to be. I’m happy to have had such good people in my life that steered me out of a lot of my environment’s directions. Not all, but a lot.
Elcee
Elcee release’s new song from the vault. In this song Elcee speaks about growing up in his environment and recognizing the contradictions of what he is labelled to be, according to where he is from and how he was raised. Track is produced by LOWERCASE n.
If you are unfamiliar with Elcee, he is a Recording Artist based out of Toronto, working with the Virginia Beach based collective JetPacks. At 24 years young with close to a decade of musical experience, Elcee is focused on being recognized for what he does.

“Real” is just that. An on the spot, stake your claim, speak your piece type of track that was the first recorded collaboration of the FREEDOM WRITERS. Amazing lyricist Progress would enter the fray immediately after, but this meeting of the minds between Tona, Theo3, Frankie Payne, Adam Bomb and Sproxx drew from the influences in the studio that day, the throwback feel of the beat and the developing chemistry that would lead to many great songs, concepts and even a full album entitled NOW. Stay tuned, there’s much more on the way.
““There’s a unique vibe when you descend down the dark basement steps at Sproxx’s studio, wind through the corridor and end up in the proverbial shrine to all things late 80’s to mid 90’s Hip Hop. Pristine positioned 12” vinyl records adorn the walls from the likes of Pete Rock and CL Smooth, Gang Starr and Public Enemy. Quotable lyrics from the Source magazine have been meticulously clipped and pinned at eye level. If you didn’t come to write rhymes or immerse yourself in the Boom Bap laced production jumping out of the monitor speakers, you’d be missing a chance to create that classic rap music.” – Theo3

Directed by Jay Montenegro.
ELMNT & Boko Maru (Crimson) collaborated about a year ago and created “The Mentalist Handbook Of Shadowboxing Through Universes”. Combining five instrumentals from respected producers they created a 13 minute audible experience. Jay Montenegro in his directorial debut created a short-film to accompany the free project.
“Anime and Hip Hop have an underrated bond, I don’t know where it comes from but it is best displayed by the late Nujabes through his production on the “Samurai Champloo” TV series. That was my inspiration behind this 13 minute short film. I chopped up a few of my favorite anime flicks and edited them using “The Mentalist Handbook of Shadowboxing Through Universes” as the soundtrack. The footage was lifted from; Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Afro Samurai, Ghost in The Shell, and Cowboy Bebop respectively. ”
Roll something then press play.
