Via 1 Love T.O. Intro to a new artist named Adria Kain. Take it in. Nice. F*ckin dope.
This is maybe the most impressive debut release I’ve heard from a local artist that I’ve never even heard of.
Last week we tweeted about listening to Adria Kain’s new EP “Love, Kain”, and after a solid week on repeat we’d like to share it with you! Adria’s a relatively new voice in the scene, but Toronto better be ready for what this talented young singer/songwriter has to offer. Below is a note attached to her release, which seems to be the perfect set up before listening to her EP. Enjoy…
Dear you,
…wherever you are, whatever you’re doing at this very moment, I’d ask of you to stop and take a few minutes of your time to remember. Remember when there was love, remember when there was hope, remember when we had a dream that everything would one day be perfect. Now cherish this moment, it may never happen again. Things are moving so fast now it may be impossible to bring this exact moment in time back to even the slightest memory. These are the letters of my heart, my diary recorded

He’s been holdin’ it down as part of Crown A’ Thornz and now here’s the debut solo album from the homie J Wyze. Here’s the official blurb from J himself. Congrats amigo!
Proverbs and Herbs is my debut album as a soloist, but don’t let that make you think I did it alone. The 13 tracks contained here are the result of over a year of Mondays spent underground at the Spott Music studios, swimming through subterranean clouds, reflecting on the world and banging out music with this album’s producer, Kolor Brown. We gave you only our favourites (that’s not a typo, it’s Canadian spelling), no filler. This is Hip-hop from my soul and I’m proud of every cut. Enjoy!
Thank you’s: I would like to thank the Most High, my children Shiann (a.k.a. DJ Lyfe) and Jesiah, the love of my life Shonelle C., my parents Eddie Nias and Debra Goins, my brothers Michael and Jacob, my sister Jessica, my extended family on both sides (Nias, Henry, Benjamin, Goins, Canterbury, etc.), my Lootaz Mob brothers (for life…), my Crown A Thornz brothers (salute!), the Wilson family (BDA), Fresh Arts, Maroon Squad, Exco Levi, Wendy Motion, Saukrates, Rich Kidd, everybody in Antigua, Bermuda and Canada, all the young bucks who record at PEACH and Firgrove, all the original Vaughan Road heads living and departed and anyone who took the time to listen to this man’s album. If I didn’t mention you by name or as part of a group, blame the head and not the heart. Nuff love!

First introduction to ‘O‘ (not to be confused with this ‘Oh’) – a dude that under his aka T.R.A.C.K.S. has been a crucial part of two highly respected groups – IRS & Big Black Lincoln (BBL) – that gave us two of the city’s most critically acclaimed albums: “Welcome to Planet IRS” & “Heaven’s Caught On Fire” respectively.
“T.R.A.C.K.S. Lament” gave us our first taste of the kid as a singer; “Clementine” – his duet with Andreena Mill – became one of many classic cuts off the BBL project; and his production/vocals on “Things Change” made it a stand out single in Mayhem Morearty’s catalouge. Last time we heard him was about a year ago when he relinked with IRS to drop vocals on “Rock For You” featuring Promise; and produce “No Regrets” featuring Frankie Payne, Kardi and Kim Davis; all off TRF’s solid “The New North” album.
“Yesterday’s Tomorrow” is a collection of cuts he put together a couple years back but is officially releasing now. So in that sense, it’s a taste of where he’s been musically and kinda serves as a precursor for what to expect moving forward from this super humble and talented Toronto artist.
Definitely looking forward to hearing more!

New Ayah over a Lyve AmiR production.
Originally recorded in ’07 but just getting released as she preps some new material for release.
I was just telling Lyve that based on his track record with Ayah ( “Might Not Be”, “Pusha Man”) it’d be nice to see him do more collabos with singers, and this release is another case in point.
How the hell that mix-up with producer credits happened is beyond me, but it wasn’t my fault, I took it off the bandcamp info (lol).. and shouts to AmiR too! (whatup!)

Not tryna get too sentimental here but I think it’s so dope that these guys came together for an official release. Def a good look for them personally as well as for the country in general. Congrats and shouts to everyone involved mang. The grind continues…!!!

Wow…totally missed this R-Les version of “Money Made Me Do It” last week. Pretty crazy even though Ryan Leslie needs to stop worrying about rapping so much and go back to making straight R&B records. Either way, definitely a dope look although it’s not an official remix.

And in the meantime…here’s another version of the song with a little help from the one and only Mr. International. Via HHC.
