New Vice feature on Canada’s musical-gwan’ns. Not sure if it’s strictly hip-hop/urban or just Canadian music in general – either way Raz Fresco’s first up to bat!
(and shout out to Big Mike over at Proper Reserve!)
For the first episode of our cross-Canada series Downtown Sound, put on in cooperation with our friends at HTC Canada, we met up with one of the Toronto’s most amazing up and coming rappers: Raz Fresco. Being the gentleman that he is, Raz took us for breakfast, brought us to the top of the CN Tower, showed us where to get jerk chicken poutine, led us to the best vintage spots in the city, freestyled on the TTC streetcar, then wrapped it all up with a performance at our super-crowded party at Wrongbar. Watch it now. It’ll be like you were right there with us.
MTL-producer Lunice provides the sound scape for Rockie Fresh’s Rick Ross featured new single “Pantera Bread”.
Fresh off an unstoppable few weeks including a show-stealing performance at Boiler Room’s SXSW event, an opening spot on the Major Lazer tour, and a North American run as TNGHT- with a Coachella play and sold out NYC show- Montreal’s rising producer Lunice is nowhere near outdoing himself any time soon.
Today, he drops the new anthem “Panera Bread” alongside Rockie Fresh and Rick Ross for Rockie’s upcoming project The Birthday Tape – establishing his position as a pioneer of a new sound for hip hop.
