One of the best writers in hip-hop, Shad, visited KUBE 93’s Sunday Night Sound Session in Seattle on 6/11/14 to speak with DJ Hyphen and J. Moore. They discussed a variety of topics, exploring what it’s like coming up in Canada making his style of music, winning the Rap Juno Award (Canadian Grammy) over his countryman Drake, and how he chooses to promote himself in the US market. He also spoke about his last album, “Flying Colours,” and his plans to take the follow up project in a new direction, before running through a lightning round of questions covering 90’s sit-coms, left handed basketball players, his favorite sneakers, and more.
Drew Howard of the “Get Home Safe” crew (with Jazz Cartier & Derek Wise) drops visuals for “Uncle Tona” off his upcoming “Drive, The Valley of Dissipation” EP.
Would love to know the background on the Tona reference tho… cuz from my vantage point it’s kinda like a BK artist doing a song called Uncle Jeru.
Directed by Fred E Fame and produced by The 5th, “Lil Elijah Say” is the
fourth video from Dan-e-o’s third album, “Inevitable”, which is out now on
URBNET Records.
They say that the youth of today don’t respect lyricism in hip-hop.
Dan-e-o, along with G-Spot on the 1s and 2s, disprove that notion by
throwing a party in the park and featuring the six year-old son of
producer Charisma a.k.a. Skizzz, Elijah Dias on the hook of this
punchline-riddled banger! Note: This is the kid-friendly clean version.

More accompanying visuals for NY emcee Mad Dukez’scollaborative EP with producer Fresh Kils.
DTR proudly presents Mad Dukez and Fresh Kils – hot off their globe trotting Repeat Offenders Tour – in the appropriately timed visual for their latest single, World Wide. Take a journey with Dukez and Kils to Vienna, Amsterdam, Prague, Paris and even a little bit of Texas as they rock crowds the globe over.
Editor Tim Cielinski asked Mad Dukez and Fresh Kils how it felt to play so many stages all over the planet:
Dukez: “Being on tour in both Europe and across the United States was an experience of a lifetime. All of the people we met were extremely respectful to us and our music. It was an amazing feeling because we were able to tell that they cared about us. We felt welcomed, we gained a ton of new fans and supporters of our music.”
Kils: “The video is essentially us manifesting our destiny, taking our art to the world. Even though we conceived that song while we were in the studio back in America, we were sure that it was gonna take us somewhere, and the video is a real testament to that.”

“I wrote this song after a moment of realization. I discovered that no one will take sympathy upon your situation because we all have our own struggles to deal with. That if you want something bad enough your going to have to go out and get it by any means necessary to show that it’s more than just a want. It’s a need.”
