Wes and Richie connect one ‘mo gin for the summer!

BORN IN TORONTO ft. Rich Kidd

Maestro Fresh Wes, the Godfather of Canadian Hip Hop, shares a conversation with the ‘Young Boss’, Rich Kidd about the city they both represent.  Produced by Rich Kidd, “BORN IN TORONTO” features the two MCs trading bars on all things related to the city — from music and city history, to politics and social commentary – all with a touch of lyrical word play and style.
Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of his debut album, Symphony In Effect, Maestro is getting ready for a summer tour, while filming Season 4 of the CBC Television sitcom, Mr. D, and preparing to release more new music.  “Born In Toronto” is his newest release, and latest collaboration with Rich Kidd, about the city both MCs love and call home.

Upcoming Canadian Show Dates Include:
June 13 (with CLASSIFIED) in BURLINGTON
June 20 (with GRAND ANALOG) in WINDSOR
June 23 in VANCOUVER

Bonus cut off one of the best albums out of the Mega for 2013 (along with the FW joint which interestingly also features Tona and Bomb).

The entire NBS team hits the MOD Club stage this Friday and there’s no question in my mind it will be a memorable one for the Toronto hip-hop history books.

Toronto’s finest rhyme spitters Rich KiddTona, and Adam Bomb have teamed up with Bryan Espiritu of Toronto based clothing line TheLegendsLeague to form Naturally Born Strangers, the audio component to the TheLegendsLeague’s F/W 13 collection avaialble   at Livestock in Toronto (116 Spadina Ave.), at retailers across Canada, and online at www.thelegendsleague.com.
The collaborative team just dropped a bonus cut from the project “Drugs” available on physical copies of the mixtape that will be given out at their debut headlining show Friday January 31st at Mod Club in Toronto along with limited edition items from the new line.

Nice first introduction to Vancity’s KAi Sky Walker + having Richie and Moka on your cut never hurt anyone…

Dead Saints” is the lead single from KAi Sky Walker off his upcoming release, New Mind | Old Soul: Chapter IV. The song features guest appearances by Rich Kidd and Moka Only, and with each of the trio at their finest, “Dead Saints” has the potential to become a Canadian classic. The song begins with the hungry, lesser known Sky Walker, followed by Rich Kidd, one of Canada’s rising standouts, before concluding with Moka Only, the seasoned veteran – showcasing the various stages of a grinding artist. It also includes Sky Walker and Moka complimenting each other nicely on the hook over the Stevie Ross production.

NBS Tiebreaker

Woah. The way they incorporated Tona‘s vocals at the end of this joint is kinda crazy. Definitely an original technique that I can appreciate from an engineer’s point of view and just from a listener’s point of view as well. NBS push is sounding real nice thus far. Get caught up below.

Nice surprise for your Thursday! Ritchie, Bomb and Tona form under the name Naturally Born Strangers for Bryan Espiritu‘s new music project. Here’s all the info via MassAppeal:

Coming from the The Great White North by way of Toronto, the highly popular Legends League clothing company presents a brand new project of the auditory kind. Naturally Born Strangers is the musical equivalent to the brand, consisting of MCs Rich KiddTona & Adam Bomb under the creative direction of LL’s commander in chief Bryan Espiritu. Where does the idea of Naturally Born Strangers stem from? Espiritu puts it best, “It was a proclamation of pride in the power of being disliked, unwanted, weird or foreign to the norm. But the embracing of that understanding made me who I am and makes way for new communities of outcasts; the antithesis to the neighborhood and the cynics of its circles.”

The debut track “A Gun & A Pack Of Sandwiches” sees the three Toronto spitters go bar for bar over Rich Kidd’s dark and eerie instrumental, which samples Radiohead’s “Talk Show Host.” The cut takes listeners through the experience of being an outcast in the eyes of others. When those antagonists bump, this is how you bump back, with a gun and a pack of sandwiches dawg!

Be on the lookout for the Naturally Born Strangers mixtape, which will coincide with the release of The Legend League’s newest collection, dropping soon. NBS will have you, ”dying for some more like them Concord sneaks.”

NEW MUSIC: J Shiltz – Still Standing feat. Rich Kidd & DJ Docta + DJ Pack (Prod. Kev Brown)

Ritchie-assisted joint from J Shiltz‘s “Still Standing” album. Nice. Full DJ Pack below too.

On May 9th 2013 J Shiltz released his second album “Still Standing”.  The sequel to his debut album “What I Stand For”, the sophomore effort came equipped with dope lyrics from both Shiltz and features alike (Rapper Big Pooh, A.G, Junia-T, pHoenix Pagliacci and more) over banging beats by some of Toronto’s illest beat makers (Rich Kidd, Lancecape, Charisma, Relic and more). Ranking as high as #5 on the national community and campus radio chart EarShot, a Much Vibe featured music video, and both stateside and worldwide acclaim are a mere fraction of the buzz the album has generated.  Yet in a climate where timeless music falls victim to a here today gone tomorrow mentality, sometimes a reminder is needed.  For that reason Shiltz has decided to release the DJ Pack to the Kev Brown produced and Rich Kidd assisted title track “Still Standing”.  DJs can get the dirty, clean, instro, and acapella via the link below.

DJ Pack MP3:

“Still Standing” is available at Play De Record in Toronto, Dr. Disc in Hamilton, and The Orange Monkey in Waterloo.  Download a digital copy of “Still Standing” via http://jshiltz.bandcamp.com.
