I feel new.

Not born-again new. Not cleansed and purified new. No. New. 2007 new. Forgotten-about|obsessed-with-making-them-remember-me new. “Whatever happened to that guy?” new. An artist with something to prove and nothing to lose. New. Not brand new. I’m not freshly out of my packaging. My paint is chipped. I’m stained with marker. My left leg is loose. Garage sale new. I feel like a bullet-riddled, Columbia dropped, jogging on Wasaga Beach 50 Cent. New.

I’m ready to build again. Something different, with a stronger foundation. I feel like my daughter, surrounded by scattered pieces of Duplo. The Jenga tower collapsed, but that was bound to happen. It was always standing on one center block. Now, I’m playing with wider pieces. I’ve written out the instructions. I want to build something beautiful.

When I approached iLLvibe about this video, I told him I want simple. No story lines. Nothing try-hard. No fromage. The opposite of 90% of my old videos. For the third time, I’m a new artist. I put on my best pair of pajama pants, we hopped in my elevator and went down to the storage unit in my building. I was nervous, and it shows. I haven’t been in front of the camera since the desert, and what a fucking mess that was.
