Dan-e-o lets off another throwback moment from his early years as a come-up Toronto hip-hop artist!
In anticipation of the “Get Up On It” music video from Dan-e-o’s new album
“Inevitable”, he has released the second in a series of #VintageVideos!
This video captures 14 year-old Dan-e-o’s second-ever live television
performance. Broadcast on August 6, 1991, MuchMusic’s “RapCity” followed
“Electric Circus” as the next national platform to promote the rising
star.
“The New Style Is This” was a single that never saw the light of day. But
the national exposure given to Dan-e-o during the broadcast helped to set
the stage for a long career. His official debut single “Dear Hip Hop”
hadn’t even been thought of yet, and would not be released for another
five years.
This video also features a young DJ Starting From Scratch backing up
Dan-e-o on vocals and makeshift drums!
