GrindHouse Project is a collective of producers & rappers hailing from Rexdale (West-end Toronto). The group is comprised of rappers Trace Motivate & 360, with Soundwave & Astromega on the beats. Musical freedom and independence is a must for the artists of GrindHouse Project, from production to lyrical ability and all other aspects of the hip hop culture that comes with building a musical following without signing to a major label. Everything is done for the fans. Lancecape’s vision for this flip came from watching clips of some of his favorite DJ’s. Just watching how DJ’s flipped anything, by juggling two records sparked this entire project. This James Brown flip was played out live to capture the feel of a DJ routine. Just listen to the programming of the track and you should understand what Lancecape is talking about.
Parker, a long time friend and fellow Monolith member, completely destroys this beat. He showed up and proved why he should NOT be one of the most underrated MC’s in Toronto. He states “when writing this?, I was angry”. Lancecape welcomed the code talking, abstract flow and utter aggressiveness. Parker painted, framed and ultimately presented himself as the MC his hometown and the world need to recognize him as.
