DJ Power from the legendary Soul Controllers crew (shouts to DTS & JWyze) connects with Machel Montano and Kardi for “Fly So High”. A little birdy told me there’s already a video for this too so look out for that soon too…
Award winning Dj Power “The Soul Controller” has enlisted Soca superstar Machel Montano and Kardinal Offishall for his new single titled “Fly So High” on the Starline Music label. Released earlier this week, this infectious Electro/House/Pop/Soca fusion style dubbed “Solectro” by Power is already making waves with its rhythmic melody and percussion, Machel’s uplifting, captivating chorus and a fire spitting verse from Kardinal Offishall. The track versions can be heard here:
“Fly So High” was written by Machel Montano, Peter “Wildfire” Noel and Kardinal Offishall and produced by Power with duo Badnuz & Pops who’s production credits include recent collaborations with famed Drake producer Boi-1da. Expect more from this trio as they have been busy crafting more tracks for Dj Power’s upcoming album which besides “Fly So High” will also feature many collaborations with artists including Kalenna Harper (Diddy Dirty Money) and the track “Makeup” with Vybz Kartel recorded just days before his current incarceration. “Fly So High” will also be featured on Machel Montano’s upcoming album to be released later this year. “Machel’s an amazing songwriter, singer and performer and we wanted to bring this sound to the world, Kardi’s verse is icing on the cake and only adds more power to this monster track”, states Power. The track is available on Itunes, Beatport, Dj Tunes and Juno.
Dj Power became famous for his Soul Controllers mashup mixtape compilations and remixes fusing Reggae/dancehall and Soca music with Hip Hop, House and Electro earning him a coveted Justo’s mixtape award. His remixes and compilations have been featured in such publications as the Ny Times and played by dj’s around the world including his work on Mims “Why I’m Hot” remix featuring Baby Cham and Junior Reid and his remix to world cup anthem Knaan’s “Waving Flag.
With their recognized skill to create captivating sounds and stories, The Airplane Boys prepare to take-off to higher musical grounds with the release of the first single “New Blood“, from their upcoming album Alignment. The much anticipated second mixtape is set to release in February 2012.

Cool!
Valino’s Log:
This is an unreleased project from 2011. Straight out of the Valino vault. I had been invited to one of Saidah Baba Talibah’s rehearsal sessions back in February of 2011 and I had the idea to start a series of rehearsal sessions showcasing the thought and energy that an artist goes through in order to prepare for a show. I thought it was a good idea because in these sessions I wanted audiences to catch a glimpse of these colorful artists in their creative environment. This video got shelved for a number of reasons but mostly because I couldn’t get a hold of the audio from the board for the show that she performed at and the concert footage was shot on a DSLR , the audio was unsalvagable. I love this slice of Saidah’s trials with keeping a band together as a struggling indie act and, from show to show, how she creates with her setlists. I feel Saidah widely talented artist and a polished and confident Toronto music act just waiting to blow up. I truely appreciated the chance to catch an inside look into her world and I’m honored to have been able to work with an artist of her caliber.
SFA media caught up with Toronto’s own Blake Carrington at the SEYA fundraiser last night. We sat down and spoke about his new movie project, fatherhood and the importance of community events. In this Clip Blake talks about the values obtained through travel. Full interview coming soon!!

Happy New Year! I can’t believe it but it’s somehow the future all over again…
Ok BIG ANNOUNCEMENT. Late last year I started a little imprint called Silk Ivory. Today I’m excited to say that my new imprint has partnered with Universal Music to release my debut solo album The Pyramid Scheme on March 13th (plus a whole ton of other really crazy amazing projects in the not-so-distant future). It’s been a longtime coming and it feels great to be working side-by-side with such esteemed company!
With THAT said, I present to you my new video “Webslinger“. It’s a pretty unique, uncanny & fuckin’ ill (if I may say so myself) visual interpretation to this Simahlak produced anthem.
About the Video:
Webslinger is a lyrical assault produced by Simahlak, backed with a video directed by Adrian Parks and Pyramid, himself, with co-direction and set design by Johnny Nghiem. The clip contains some dangerously appropriate visuals, centered around a tarantula crawling loose across a woman’s naked, heavily tattooed body. Feel free to post the video on your blogs, Tumblr & websites.I’m about to pop off and live on the road for the next little while so make sure you scream at me via email, Twitter or Facebook and as always thank you for the support.
