Era (Happy belated!) debuts his first full-length project as an artist on Raekwon’s ICEH2O label.
“No Handouts” features appearances from Ayah, Lokz, Shi Wisdom, The Let Up, Mac Miller and Rae + production from Pro Logic, Snaz, Lex Luger, Beat Merchant, 9th Wonder, Tronz, Mark Henry, Burd x Keyz & Rich Kidd.
Congrats to the whole Black Market and ICEH2O team on the release.
Well actually we first caught up with him when he was still going by his real name – Curtis Santiago – and doing his thing with Ivana Santilli, PTRJON (Lets Go To War) and others for the GSUS viral campaign in 2010.
Anyways, he’s working out of Toronto; hails from Vancity; down with Chin; down with Illangelo (who produced this cut); and T.O. writer Dave Morris did a comprehensive piece on him for OKP last week that pretty much covers the who, what, where and why of this dude.

What a great time to be checking for hip-hop in Canada. So many dope projects coming out on the regular and this one is no different. Fresh Kils – who’s arguably the busiest artist out there right now – hooks up with Kitchener emcee/deejay Fraction for “Extra Science”. Definitely got that late 90s boom-bap feel with a 2012 shine. The project also features appearances from The Get By and Mister E.

Interesting times in pop culture right now: Coachella and youTube partner to livestream the entire event; Pac and Nate Dogg return from the grave for what was the most surreal hip-hop performance I have ever seen; and hometown singer The Weeknd makes his U.S. (and global) debut on the festival’s stage.
And we’re supposed to hit 24 degrees today in the Mega.
