The new EP from Toronto MC/Producer 4th Pyramid is here! “The Sky Belongs To The Stars” includes heavy hitting guests & production by Grandtheft, Rich Kidd & 2 tracks with up & coming R&B sensation Ben Stevenson.
Toronto-born producer, Burd x Keyz has been determined to make a name for himself in the music industry over the past few years. Anyone who comes into contact with Burd knows that not only is he talented on the boards, but is beyond motivated to see his dreams come to life. The new year has been an exciting one so far as Burd has teamed up with Cleveland rapper Machine Gun Kelly on a song called “Pesos”. The track is the lead single off MGK’s upcoming mixtape titled Black Flag, that is set to release later in May. “Pesos” also features verses from heavy-hitters, Meek Mill and Pusha T.
FRESH off the heels of releasing his debut album, “Always Fresh!”, veteran hip-hop producer Lancecape unleashes a CLASSIC instrumental project!
The driving force behind Toronto’s Mighty MONOLITH crew, Lancecape is back to showcase his uncanny skill of flipping some of hip-hop’s most liked samples with “Return To The Classics Vol. 1”.
From Bob James to Minnie Riperton, Grover Washington to Barry White, Lancecape delivers his “dirty, dusty” twist of soul on this new project.
As Toronto producer Sol X prepares for his forthcoming EP Dark Lights, he has released a loose single not featured on the project called “Blind Spot (Solmix)”
Sampling “Blind Spot” by the Submotion Orchestra, a 7-piece band from Leeds, England, Sol X has streamlined the track into a euphoric production, filled with heavy synths and warm keys. Influenced by jazz, dubstep and soul, Sol X has transitioned the original song into a refreshing cut for warm nights and dark lights.
Expect the Dark Lights EP to be released later this year.
Toronto emcee, Jimmy B, drops off the re-release of his debut mixtape, Jimmy Eats World. The project consists of new and old material with features courtesy of Mookie Jones, Big Sant and Vader The Villin amongst others. Production credits include MMac, Junia T, KREATEV and Adrian Hogan. Jimmy is currently working on his debut EP.
With changing times on the horizon so much has happened within all of us on either a individual level or as a collective whole. Whether we’ve faced personal transformations through our daily lives, or we’ve used our art as a form of expression or messaging, we’ve witness some sort of shift. Some of us may have identified with others to create collaborative change or put our efforts in areas we saw fit so we could redefine our truths and beliefs. Whatever that shift has been, we are now becoming more aware of this energy.
This year for the 7th Annual Manifesto Art Show we will explore the notions of connectedness and evolution as we present thought-provoking works from local artists as well as game-changers from across the globe.
“Everything in our world is sacred and interconnected – and we’re in the midst of an epochal shift to recognizing that truth in every realm of human endeavor.” – Stephen Dinan.

The Billboard charts are full of superstars who started out writing hits for other people: Kanye West, Frank Ocean, Lady Gaga. We perceive their transition into the spotlight as a promotion, and the end goal. But Toronto neo-soul singer Shi Wisdom sees it differently.
“For me, becoming an established writer is more of a priority than becoming a performer,” says Wisdom, born Renee Wisdom. “I will always perform and sing. But that in itself [doesn’t guarantee] longevity. It’s not easy to stay relevant in the scene for many years as a performer, whereas writing is a gift that stays with you.”
So far, she’s doing okay. As well as penning her own songs, Wisdom co-wrote Roc Nation star Rita Ora’s debut single, R.I.P., with fellow Torontonian Drake.
But it’s her rich, versatile singing – part laid-back Erykah Badu, part rolling Beyoncé trill (two artists she’s covered), part edgy je ne sais quoi in her lower register – that’s made her a sought-after headliner.
Wisdom was first an opener at The Known Unknown, a music series started five years ago in the small Bloor and Ossington club Lambadina by Tika Simone. Recognizing the need to spotlight local urban artists, Simone originally called it Intimate & Interactive and intended to perform herself before realizing her calling was showcasing others.
