The Small family doing big things! Ahhhh…..so witty.
You might remember being introduced to Mckenzie Small via her cousin Haley Small. They did a handful of viral cover videos together a couple years back. Fast forward to 2016 and Mckenzie’s got a solo push of her own. Led by the first single / video, “Caught Feelings”.
T i K ▲ and McCallaman link up one mo’ gin to co-celebrate the release of their projects which are both available now. Should be a dope night with the likes of Blues, Sydanie and Monsieur Desire all rounding up the lineup.
Zaki Ibrahim teaches us how to use vocal percussion when writing songs.

Debut long play from the incomparable Tanika Charles. It’s been quite the grind for Mz. Chawls over the years so I can only imagine how this feels for her right about now. Taking this one in over the long weekend for sure.

Soul Run has been supported by an incredible group of individuals that I’m CERTAIN God has placed in my life at the right time, from time. Off the top, my family, Lennard Charles (Dad), Marva Robley (Mom), Quincy Charles (L’il Bro) and Rudy Mohammed (Big Bro). Thank you for allowing me to at least TRY this music thing. Thank you for loving and supporting me for soooo long. I love you guys immensely. Michael Warren, my partner, for holding me down (I’m so moody and he’s so not). Love you. The Warren Family, Zaki Ibrahim, L’oqenz, Jennifer Balance, Mark El-Raheb, Shandra Fox, Mike Celia, Dave Patel, Tony Nesbitt- Larking, 2nd Son, Marlon James, Nicole Antionette, Michelle Francis, Jesse Ohtake, Tao M Lau, Ryan Paterson, The Big Sound, Slakah the Beatchild, Octavio N. Santos, Taha Muharuma, S-quire Johnson, Emmanuel Jal, Matt Reid, Anthony Corsi, Sproxx, OAC, CAC and CBC. Big thanks to all of you and HUGE heartfelt thanks to all the friends and extended family that had my back from jump. Every dang time I wanted to quit, you insisted that quitting wasn’t an option. Love you like cook food. -xoT

Quote from a l l i e:
“This song came to me quick and easy, rose up in one fluid motion. Not all songs arrive that way. When it happens though, it’s a blessing. That’s when I’m doing my job of being an open channel and catching a flow. The message is simple: live deeply, break the chains, move freely. Move how you move when no ones watching. Move the way love makes you move. Move like a mystic ✨”
Recent press from Pitchfork for her track “I Can’t Wait” w/ Birthday Boy – “The 20 Essential Post-Drake Toronto Tracks” – http://pitchfork.com/thepitch/1125-the-20-essential-post-drake-toronto-tracks/
“R&B artist Allie’s gorgeously soulful voice is a hot commodity in Toronto, and she’s been putting it to good collaborative use alongside producers like Elaquent, Da-P, and TOKiMONSTA. On “I Can’t Wait,” Allie teams up with fellow Toronto producer Birthday Boy for a simmering duet about the pursuit of romance, a track that’s comparable to contemporaries like Tinashe or Jhené Aiko.”
