I’ve been rooting for Jayd Ink from time. She’s been putting it down for a couple years now and has yet to disappoint. Here she blesses “You” by ATL-based artist London Jae with a nice likkle hook. TIP with the assist. Shouts to the girl.
Some newness from Sean Leon. BLACK SHEEP NIRVANA coming soon!
Founder of the IXXI Initiative, Sean Leon has so far released two critically-acclaimed projects, Ninelevenne, the Tragedy (2013) and Narcisuss, the Drowning of Ego (2014). Leading up to the release of BLACK SHEEP NIRVANA, he continues to stand out as a pillar of the Toronto music scene.
Nice one from Yuri and newcomer Asheley Turner. Shouts to this guy man. It’s not stated enough how talented Yuri is. Dude writes, sings, raps, produces, records, mixes, masters, does graphic design and I’m sure he’s shot and directed some music videos too (if I’m not mistaken). He probably took this picture too. And he’s in it.
Anyways….nice joint. Looking forward to more from Asheley Turner too. Consider it the intro!
Yuri Koller goes back & forth with R&B singer Asheley Turner over some mid tempo production created by Yuri himself. The song gives a great balance of “old meets new” that will be perfect for the upcoming summer season.

Can’t believe it’s been 5 years since One Day Soon. A lot has gone on in Ian Kamau’s life since then including, unfortunately, the passing of his sister, Roxanne. Here he pays tribute on “An Ocean Between Us”.
I lost my sister on March 3, 2016. She passed away abruptly in Trinidad. I wrote this song for her and her two sons Emmanuel and Kyle. It contains a conversation with my father Roger McTair that I recorded on my phone in his apartment in downtown Toronto. As much as this song is about a lost life, it is about health, and migration, and the distance (physical and emotional) that immigration creates. Rest in peace Roxanne.
-Ian
This song contains a sample from Brazilian guitarist Bola Sete’s track Bettina from the Album Workin’ on a Groovy Thing (1970)
D-Sisive and Muneshine connect for “Black Sheep” plus D drops 3 joints over classic instrumentals to round out an official release called “Black Sheep [plus three]”. Info below:
Today, I make my official return, with an official single, so, yeah…shit’s official. This is my first [plus three] since Nobody With A Notepad. Black Sheep also comes with Pistorius Legs, Rocky Dennis and the certified platinum My Aunt Carol Fucked Kim Mitchell.
To be honest…The past year was a hideous one. I promised things I wasn’t ready to deliver. I believed I lost the ability to write and suffered a terrifying writer’s block. Life stomped my fucking face. Fortunately, those experiences – like my previous nightmares – have given me material. Tons of fucking material. Reminiscent of my Laundry Room days. I have a lot of lost time to make up for.
To those who stuck by me…I thank you. You, and my music are all I have, and now the plan is to ride this bull until I…well…I’m never falling off. I’m finally back in writing shape to keep giving you what brought you to my compound to begin with.

This is kinda different. Sport Mathews isn’t the name of the MC, but the crew. The ensemble. MC’s name is Malfunction. Consider it the intro…

Jayd Ink hops on Roy Wood$’s “Unleashed” instrumental and flips it into “In The Back”. This is one of the most consistent new artists in the city man. She hasn’t put out anything that isn’t dope. If you’re not up on her yet just take in the SoundCloud.
p.s. Toronto artists flipping other Toronto artist’s joints is sick.
#Two from Jayd Ink’s series titled Thr33. Roy Wood$ – Unleashed
