Since his first effort last year (“Fear”), Toronto-based artist Raahiem, continues to quietly carve out a space for himself within the R&B world. With his debut project, Raahiem tackles a conversation often avoided today – fear. In a conversation with Noisey, he says, “It’s such a dictator the way it sways the choices we make in life. The lack of knowledge we have about tomorrow and the people around us creates such uncertainty that everybody experiences at some point.”
Over the 6-track EP the singer brings listeners to all aspects of relationships, not shying away from the bad or the ugly. Co-produced by Anthony Bastion, Fear of the Unknown bridges sounds of traditional R&B with a contemporary twist, creating a balanced souncdscape that highlights Raahiem’s vocals, as well as his creative process.
“This project for me was all about addressing the unspoken when it comes to the subject fear, which is such a big part in all of our lives. Worrying about tomorrow, the day after that, relationships with people, and where life will take us. Trying to understand that these things, more often than not are out of our control and we have to accept life as it comes. We embrace the good and the bad. Even if reluctantly.” – Raahiem
More new visuals from NUE off his latest release. “Obvious” still in rotation on DAIS too.
Toronto artist NUE is letting loose on his new video single: “Alaska.” Directed by Anthony Supreme (known for shooting J. Cole’s 4 Your Eyez Only cover), the video does justice to a song described as “hypnotic” by Pigeons & Planes and “unshakably sticky” by HotNewHipHop. While NUE’s wrist might be -20 degrees, the video takes viewers through a hazy summer evening at a remote house, which seems the perfect location for the sunny beat behind his dripping, melodic voice. Float along with NUE on “Alaska” and check out NUE’s IROQUOIS mixtape below.
“’Glowed Up & Gassed Up. Turn My Wrist Into Alaska’, it’s just some fly shit. It’s feel good music.” – NUE

Following the release of three lead singles; Obvious, Alaska and Fever – Toronto’s NUE has officially let loose his highly anticipated debut project ‘IROQUOIS’. Featuring 13 records, the mixtape serves as the first full length offering from the up and coming Canadian artist. Already referred to as ‘a favourite’ by the respected Pigeons and Planes team, and praised for having a ‘refreshing sound’ by The Source, NUE has made quite an impression for only having released three full length singles. The sounds on IROQUOIS are spacey and minimalistic. Executive producer A.I.D’s subtle production style gives room for NUE to not just ride a beat, but make his voice a leader layer that shapes the song. NUE switches flows on a dime – flipping from menacing to delicate and everything in between. The wait has been worth it, experience the full mixtape for yourself and you’ll quickly see what all the hype is about!
“I feel like IROQUOIS was just me recording my life for a year. It’s more about feeling than definition. I was just going through life at the time and documenting how I felt and the things that were going on. Every song happened from us (ILL RITUAL) living and recognizing the moments that we felt deserved a song right then and there in the moment.” – NUE
